Now this was one of my last Cloverdale Creative Corner projects, but I am excited to share it in a for where it is easier to see the details. The basic premise of project was taking old wooden frame and turning it into something new.
I built a basic box using scrap wood and painted the inside black and glued to picture frame. Then came the fun part! I could have just used as a shelf but my whimsical side was leaning back in time to dioramas which many of us made when we were younger.
I cut out a piece of thin scrap wood and attached each of the tiny bricks one at a time (www.minimaterials.com) and used a left-over scrap of zebra wood for the fireplace mantle. Some reddish orange paper I had made the "flames", and a msll piece of copper got molded to be the fireplace grate. The small table was again a scrap of wood I sanded and nailed 4 nails in to create "table legs". I stole a tuft of Mongolian fur from one of the cat beds and the rest was an adventure in acquisition! (I really should have been a personal shopper in a different life)
I found the deer in man's clothing reading on ETSY, which is basically what ended up inspiring the final design. The scales of justice, rifle, route 66 mug and mini–New Yorker magazine all came from ETSY or EBAY. The tiny frames, doll head and lights came from amazon. I caution those into miniatures....seeking out items is a delightful rabbit hole that will steal hours of your life if you let it. and behind the paper flames is a mini spotlight with replaceable batteries.

My love of tiny things and big things definitely provided me with endless daydreaming about possible projects.

It is important to remember that not all projects need to be complicated. I ordered a clear vinyl mat and used vinyl stickers - cats ordered on etsy and dots, most of which are actually on underside simply peel and stick. Easy fun and if ya get bored with it, peel off the stickers and start over!

I think one of the things I enjoy so much about this painting I did in hallway, is most people don't see it if they come over. One has to either go into our lil studio supply room or garage to pass her and she always makes me smile.

Found a graphic I liked, tweaked it a bit and then put on a projector so I could trace onto the wall in size I wanted and then acrylic paint used. I like to call her my cleaning motivator Veronica...I disappoint her continually with avoiding housework as much as possible, but she still makes me smile every time I see her.

Sometimes the best projects are born of self-care. Whilst going through a stressful time with a family member I decided it was time to bury the late 90"s salmon colored tile which I had already painted black with something a bit longer lasting.
Filled all the grout lines with grout filler to get surface as level as possible. Poured multiple batches of self-leveling topcoat cement and once dry had sprayed with stains in different shades of deep blue and grey.
On a particularly stressful day in process, I realized it reminded me of the ocean, so I thought "hey, why not paint an octopus?
Grabbed the acrylic paints I needed and laid/sat on floor painting until it was done. Once dried covered with a professional high shine wax coat that is not slippery, despite the shine it gives off.

Stress given an outlet, unique floor was born...PURE JOY!

Project from 2018. When you needed large affordable art and over time decided to create a new piece based on original that was getting dingy. Cut out the cat from the tapestry, traced onto plywood. That taking wenge hardwood, used bandsaw to create veneer slices and glued atop the plywood. Leather trim from Amazon glued around the edges to not looking at plywood and glue and hung over mirror to keep the vibe. Hard to photograph, so not included, at night there is a faint glow of fairy lights that are behind the piece, which give a wonderful soft glow when dark.
